TECNALIA is a private, non-profit technological research centre, with a permanent staff of 1400 employees.

HOTFORM project will be developed by the “Automotive” area and the “Steel Business” area, both from the “Industry and Transport” division.
The Automotive Area
The Automotive Area has long industrial experience in advanced metal forming processes and FEM simulation, for the automotive sector. The focus is process optimization and development of new advanced forming processes for conventional, new materials and multi-material components, aiming at reducing cost, energy and environmental footprint. The area has a fully automatic hot forming cell, to perform prototype testing in semi-industrial conditions.
The Steel Business Area
The Steel Business Area has long experience in modeling steel manufacturing processes and development of new steel grades. This area is well equipped with several software tools for alloy design, a Gleeble 3800 machine, melting and casting facilities, as well as laboratories for metallographic and compositional analysis, microstructural and mechanical characterization of steels and iron-based alloys.
