Activities


HOTFORM project main activities are:
- Alloy design of new Dual Phase and Complex Phase steel grades, specifically suited for hot forming of automotive components.
- Manufacturing of the steel heats for complete laboratory testing and material characterization.
- Definition of the most appropriate hot forming routes, to obtain the required final material properties, to optimize material formability at elevated temperatures, to avoid springback of the component after forming and to design a cost effective and sustainable overall process.
- Evaluation of the performance of the new developed hot forming DP and CP steel grades, with prototype testing.
- Complete assessment of the achieved properties of the prototype parts, in terms of material properties and part functionality.
- To perform Life Cycle Assessment of the complete processes, including the steel making and the hot forming of the prototype parts.
